Our Story

Our Heart, Our Heritage

The Seeds of a Dream - Our story began long before our doors opened in San Diego. Growing up in Hagonoy, Bulacan, a province world-renowned for its exquisite Filipino desserts and delicacies, Agnes Manansala De Joya learned the art of the trade from a young age. Helping run her family’s small sari-sari store, she developed a deep appreciation for business.

A Family Legacy in San Diego - It all began in 1990 with a single dream: Agnes’ passion for bringing the authentic flavors of the Philippines to San Diego. Alongside her was her husband, Leopoldo “Boy” De Joya, a retired Navy veteran who supported his wife’s wish to provide a better life for her family.

What started as a mother’s wish blossomed into a community staple. Following Agnes’ retirement, her daughter Maybelline and son-in-law Derrick stepped in to carry the torch, eventually expanding our family business from National City to Mira Mesa and Chula Vista.

Honoring Our Founders - Though we said a difficult goodbye to Agnes in 2012 and to Leopoldo in October 2025, their legacy is baked into every tray we serve. Today, the Cui family continues to honor their journey, using the same traditional Bulacan-inspired recipes that have made us a local favorite for over 35 years.

From our family to yours, thank you for being a part of our story.
